Oh nOOOO!

Found a tiny crack in a weld on the frame of my Kikapu. On the basis of this photo (right) the nice people at Paligap (UK distributor for Kona) have agreed to replace the chainstay. Sadly my old bike shop (Guildford Cycles) is no longer with us. Anyway I took the frame to Nirvana Cycles in Westcott. They seemed very nice and checked the frame for any other cracks.

It also resolved happily. Lessons learned:

1) Keep your bike clean and use that as an opportunity to check for damage.

2) Keep your receipts! :-)

In an ideal world nothing would ever break but, since that is unrealistic, the next best thing are companies with good aftersales care. This is the same reason I buy Park Tools - expensive, but they've always been good about shipping replacements direct from the USA.
